Allegheny Mountain Section Air & Waste Management Assn. Scholarships

The Air & Waste Management Association’s Allegheny Mountain Section is happy to announce its annual scholarship programs. The Allegheny Mountain Section Air & Waste Management Association provides undergraduate scholarships to students pursuing an environmental vocation at an academic level above bachelor work, such as environmental science, engineering, or law.


Alpha Gamma Rho Horticulture Scholarship


Amount: $1000


The Alpha Gamma Rho Horticulture Scholarship is available to AGR undergraduates who are enrolled in a horticulture-related major, such as entomology, environmental horticulture, horticulture, landscape gardening, landscape horticulture, ornamental horticulture, pest control, plant breeding, plant pathology, plant science (with horticulture emphasis), pomology, and/or vegetable crops, and who have completed at least three courses in their department.


Apprentice Ecologist Scholarship


Amount: $1000

Since 1999, the Apprentice Ecologist Initiative (formally recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency) has involved tens of thousands of young volunteers (kids, teenagers, and college-age youth) from across the world in environmental cleaning and conservation initiatives. This initiative has garnered several honors from the City of Albuquerque, as well as a “Best Community Impact” award from Eastern Kentucky University, and it has been published on thousands of websites.


ASGC Undergraduate Teacher Education Scholarship

The Alabama Space Grant Consortium (ASGC) has a key objective of developing programs that will assist improve the science and mathematics education of all children, resulting in a more scientifically literate populace. To that goal, the country requires a greater supply of students who are well-prepared and completely competent to teach mathematics and science in our primary and secondary institutions. The ASGC has launched a competitive undergraduate teacher education scholarship program to supplement its current scientific and engineering-based scholarships in order to encourage bright persons to continue courses leading to teaching certification in the sciences and mathematics.


Association for Iron & Steel Technology Scholarships


Amount:  $12,000

Deadline: 10/3/2023

The Premier Grant, a one-year scholarship of $12,000 plus a paid summer internship, will be awarded to the candidate with the highest overall score (summer preceding the scholarship). The applicant must commit to a paid summer internship in a North American steel-related company, be a citizen of the United States, Canada, or Mexico, and be willing to move for the duration of the internship. Note: If chosen, AIST will aid with internship placement; however, applicants are encouraged to seek information from steel firms at career/job fairs and may take an internship or co-op at any time with a steel manufacturing company or industry supplier. If the beneficiary self-places an internship, the internship must be pre-approved.


Association of California Water Agencies Scholarship


Amount: $3500

ACWA is the nation’s biggest statewide association of public water providers. Our more than 460 public agency members are together responsible for 90% of the water provided to California’s cities, farmers, and industries. Our objective has been clear for more than a century: to offer comprehensive leadership, advocacy, and resources to California public water agencies in order to assure a high quality and reliable water supply in an ecologically sustainable and economically responsible way. ACWA grants scholarships to deserving undergraduate students each year through the ACWA Scholarship Program.


Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund


Amount: $20,000

Our purpose is to enhance the Bay Area’s Asian and Pacific Islander communities through boosting philanthropy and supporting organizations that serve our most vulnerable community members. We foresee a vibrant Asian and Pacific Islander community with a strong presence and influence. Beulah Frey Environmental Scholarship


Amount: $2500

ASWP gives one $2,500 scholarship to a graduating high school student from Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Beaver, Fayette, Washington, or Westmoreland counties. Students who plan to attend two or four-year institutions to pursue a degree in an ecologically related subject are eligible to apply.


Blandy Experimental Farm REU Program

At Blandy Experimental Farm, undergraduate education is one of our top focuses. Blandy has offered Undergraduate Research Fellowships to students interested in ecology and environmental science since 1992. The National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program has helped us in this endeavour. Our major objective is to teach students how to develop testable hypotheses concerning critical ecological and evolutionary issues. The program’s structure encourages students to hone their abilities in experimental design, data collecting, analysis, and critical reading of primary scientific literature. Students also learn how to prepare and present scientific material to colleagues and the wider audience.


Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship


Amount: $5000


We embrace diversity in the workplace at Brown and Caldwell, and we support organizations such as the National Society of Black Engineers and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. We also provide a $5,000 Minority Scholarship to students who identify as minorities and wish to pursue a career in the environmental field.


Campus Safety Health & Environmental Management Association Scholarship


Amount: $3000


To support the study of environmental and occupational health, safety, and allied fields, CSHEMA awards a $3,000 scholarship (as well as a waiver to attend the CSHEMA annual conference). The program is open to all college undergraduate students enrolled in 12 credit hours per semester, trimester, or quarter, preferably in majors geared toward an EHS career (such as, but not limited to, environmental science, fire protection, health physics, industrial engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational health, safety, and so on).


Colorado Garden Show Scholarships

Colorado Garden Foundation is happy to offer scholarship programs funded by earnings from the annual Colorado Garden & Home Show and Colorado Fall Home Show to students attending a Colorado college or institution. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, botany, biology (as it relates to horticulture/agriculture sciences), forestry, agronomy, conservation, plant pathology, environmental issues, city planning, or a similar field.


Connecticut Building Congress Scholarships

The Connecticut Building Congress Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to Connecticut high school graduates who are attending college-level programs in architecture, construction-related engineering, construction management, surveying, planning, or other construction-related fields of study.


Detroit Chapter of ASHRAE’s Joseph B. Olivieri Scholarship


Amount: $1500

Deadline: 4/22/2023

The Joseph B. Olivieri Scholarship will be awarded to one student by the Detroit Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. for the following academic year. Eligibility Requirements: full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program at a college or university in Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw, or Wayne, Michigan; accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or the National Architecture Accreditation Board (NAAB); and leading to a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Architecture; AND, family members.


DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship

The DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF), established in 1991, provides extraordinary perks and opportunity to students seeking PhD degrees in disciplines that employ high-performance computers to tackle challenging science and engineering challenges. The initiative develops a community of enthusiastic and dedicated Ph.D. students, graduates, DOE laboratory personnel, and other scientists who wish to make a difference in the world while furthering their research.


Dr. W. Wesley Eckenfelder Scholarship


Amount: $5000


Dr. Wesley Eckenfelder, Jr. is available through Brown and Caldwell. Scholarship for students interested in pursuing a career in the environmental field. Applicants must be full-time students in their junior, senior, or graduate year at an approved college or university, with a stated major in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering, or one of the environmental sciences (e.g. geology, hydro-geology, ecology). A minimum GPA of 3.0 is necessary. Applicants must additionally submit an essay of at least 250 words.


Emily M. Herwitt & Stephen Stocking Memorial Scholarships

The Emily M. Hewitt and Stephen Stocking Memorial Scholarships are awarded to a talented upper division or graduate student who demonstrates a dedication to communicating and interpreting a love of nature as well as an appreciation of the importance of conservation practice. Anyone enrolled full-time in an approved California post-secondary educational institution whose educational career aspirations clearly correspond with Emily Hewitt’s and Steve Stocking’s passion in expressing and understanding nature’s wonder is eligible to apply. Applicants are invited to apply if they are studying environmental protection, forestry, wildlife and fisheries, biology, parks and recreation, park management, environmental law and public policy, environmental art, or California history.


Environmental Studies/ Natural Science Scholarship Program https://www.environmentalscience.org/scholarship

Outstanding students interested in pursuing an environmental profession can apply for a $1,000 Entering College grant and a $1,000 Continuing College scholarship from the Friends of Volo Bog. To be eligible for the Entering College scholarship, applicants must live in Lake, McHenry, Kane, Cook, DuPage, Kendall, or Will County, attend a high school in one of these counties, have a B average for the first three years, and plan to attend a recognized college or institution. The candidate should want to pursue a job closely connected to environmental preservation.


EPOC Environmental Scholarship Fund

The EPOC Scholarship Fund was established to assist Connecticut residents, or an immediate family member (spouse or child) of an EPOC Member in good standing, who are enrolled in an accredited college or university (CT colleges or out-of-state colleges) and have declared majors in the environmental field.


EPP UndergraduateScholarship Program


Amount: $45,000

Deadline: 1/31/2023

The EPP/MSI Undergraduate Scholarship covers two years of undergraduate study in a field linked to NOAA’s programs and purpose, such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Students who have finished their sophomore year and are enrolled in minority-serving colleges are eligible for the program (MSIs). You must be a U.S. citizen or national who is presently enrolled or accepted as a full-time student in the second year of a four-year academic program or the third year of a five-year program. within the United States or its territories, at a recognized minority-serving institution or university. Applicants must have and maintain a 3.2 GPA.


Ernest F. Hollings Undergaduate Scholarship


Amount: $19,000


The Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship Program grants academic support for two years of full-time study as well as a 10-week, full-time paid internship at a NOAA site over the summer to successful undergraduate candidates. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, currently enrolled or accepted as a full-time second-year student in a four-year academic program or a full-time third-year student in a five-year undergraduate program at an accredited college or university in the United States or its territories, and have a GPA of at least 3.0.


Fontana Transport Inc. Scholars Program


Amount: $5000


Fontana Transportation Inc. Underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation college students are eligible for the Scholars Program. Full-time undergraduate students must be pursuing a degree in transportation, math, science, engineering, architecture, environmental design, pre-med, psychology, or Spanish language/literature. The candidate does not need to be a US citizen, but he or she must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and proof of enrolment in college beginning in the autumn semester. A faculty member’s recommendation is optional but strongly encouraged.


Friends of Moraine Hills State Park Scholarship in Environmental Studies


Amount: $1000


Every year, the Friends of Moraine Hills State Park present two $1000 scholarships to two high school graduates pursuing a career in environmental studies. Applicants must be residents of Lake, McHenry, or Kane counties in Illinois. They must also intend to attend an authorized college or university, major in an environmental field of study, and have a high school GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.


Harold Colby/ Ray Barton NH Association of Septage Haulers Memorial Scholarship


Amount: $500


The Harold Colby/Ray Barton NHASH Memorial Scholarship is available to high school students who want to study Environmental Science. Applicants having immediate family members who are NHASH members or who are active in an industry-related firm or organization that fits the criteria for membership as an NHASH Associate member will be given special attention. Financial need is taken into account, and candidates must maintain a 3.0 GPA in their first semester of college to be eligible for the prize.


Hary Hampton Fund Scholarship

The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation that collaborates with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to promote conservation of wildlife, marine, and other natural resources in South Carolina through education, research, management, and the administration of game and fish laws. A significant emphasis of the fund’s goal is public education in the principles of wildlife and marine resource management and conservation, a priority to address the rising demand for better-informed caretakers of our resources in this age of greater urbanization and technology.


International Young Eco-Hero Award

The International Young Eco-Hero Awards were founded by Action For Nature (AFN), a non-profit organization, to recognize and honor excellent individual environmental activities by young people aged 8 to 16. AFN encourages young people all across the world to conduct their own environmental action programs. We think that young people can have a good influence on the environment and play an important role in transforming how we live on our planet.


Leo Bourassa Scholarship

The Leo Bourassa Scholarship recognizes and supports talented students studying in subjects relating to water resources. Applicants for the Leo Bourassa Scholarship must be enrolled in a Virginia recognized college or university and a Virginia resident at the time of application and grant. Must have completed or will complete at least two semesters of undergraduate study by the award date and be a full-time undergraduate, full-time graduate student, or part-time graduate student enrolled in a curriculum related to water resources, including but not limited to biology, conservation, ecology, engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrology, limnology, storm water management, water quality, or wildlife studies.


Luce Scholars Program

The goal of the Luce Scholars Program is to offer young Americans with an in-depth experience in Asia who would not otherwise have the chance to immerse themselves in the nation where they are situated. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, as well as graduating seniors, recent graduates, or young professionals under the age of 32, or if older than 32, have acquired their bachelor’s degree within the last three years.


NASF Foundation Scholarships


Amount: $1500


Applicants must be at least junior-standing during the upcoming academic year, major in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, metallurgical engineering, materials science engineering, metallurgy, or materials science, and maintain a 3.0 GPA for undergraduates and 3.3 for graduates to be eligible for the NASF Foundation Scholarships.

NYWEA will serve the public’s best interests by supporting long-term clean water quality management via science, education, and training. NYWEA will improve our membership’s professional well-being by providing chances to expand their knowledge and capacities, as well as cultivating a platform for them to play an important part in crafting an environmentally sound future. NTHA Bradford- Sullivan Forest Landowners’ Association Scholarship

The Bradford-Sullivan Forest Landowners’ Association has established a scholarship program for students seeking degrees in forestry, agriculture, natural resource management, environmental education, or a related subject. Seniors from Bradford and Sullivan counties, as well as current college students, are eligible. The application deadline is April 1st.


NYWEA N.G. Kaul Memorial Scholarship


Amount: $5000


In 2008, NHA established the Past Chairs’ Legacy Scholarship to encourage students to seek careers in the waterpower business in the United States. Engineering, IT, biology, environmental sciences, forestry, hydrology, animal sciences, management, financial services, communications, and other professions are represented in our expanding business. Many businesses also provide well-paying skilled labor and technical employment.


Ohio EPA Scholarship


Amount: $5000


Undergraduate students enrolled to Ohio state or private colleges and universities who can demonstrate their expertise and dedication to careers in environmental sciences or environmental engineering are eligible for the Ohio EPA Scholarship (though majoring in it is not required). Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and be in their junior or senior year to be considered.


Ontario County Casella Scholarship

The Ontario County Board of Supervisors announced that Casella Environmental Waste Management academic scholarships will be awarded to qualified Ontario County (applicants must be Ontario County residents) college or college-bound students majoring in environmental studies, agriculture, or agricultural business including waste management.

RTK Scholars Program

RTK Environmental Group is open to students majoring in environmental science, biology, engineering, or a related physical science – these majors account for the vast majority of college graduates who go on to become the foremost experts in environmental testing, both in the lab and in the field, as well as developers of new technologies for the trade.

SEG Scholarships


Amount: $10,000


The Society of Exploration Geophysicists provides a variety of scholarship possibilities. Applicant must be a high school senior preparing to enter college the following year, or a current undergraduate or graduate student with above-average grades, and desire to pursue a college program aimed towards a career in applied geophysics.


Society of Women Engineers- Lehigh Valley Section


Amount: $5000


Since 2001, SWE-LV has made it a priority to award scholarships to high school senior women who want to study in engineering at their particular college or institution. Scholarship monies are given by local companies, and all program management is done by SWE volunteers. Applicants must be girls who have graduated from high school and live in zip codes 177-187 and 195-196, which cover more than 20 counties in Pennsylvania.


The Virgin W. Smith Scholarship

The Virginia W. Smith Scholarship will be given to a local twelfth-grade student who has maintained good grades and wishes to pursue a postsecondary education in horticulture, conservation, or environmental concerns.


Thedore Gordon Flyfishers, Inc. Founders Fund Scholarship

Theodore Gordon Flyfishing Club, Inc. The Founders Fund Scholarship is awarded yearly to a single person who has exhibited proficiency and great devotion in a subject of study that fits within a school or department’s environmental field. The founders hoped that the recipient would utilize the scholarship to help with his or her education and then pursue work in the tri-state region in either the public or private sector, promoting the cause of environmental preservation and riparian habitat restoration for the benefit of everyone. Students attending their first or second year of graduate or law school are eligible for this grant. The major of the qualifying candidate must be in environmental studies, including but not limited to ecology, hydrology, conservation biology, natural resource management, zoology, or environmental law and policy.


Udall Scholarship


Amount: $7,000


The organization and the Udall Scholarships memorialize the legacy of Morris and Stewart Udall, brothers who both served in the United States military. Congress. Morris Udall is most recognized for his contributions to environmental protection, public lands, natural resources, and tribal self-government. Stewart Udall was a member of Congress as well as the U.S. Secretary of the Interior from 1961 until 1969, and environmental lawyer. The Udall Foundation grants scholarships to college sophomores and juniors for their leadership, public service, and devotion to Native American nations or environmental concerns.


WTS Leadership Legacy Scholarship for Graduates

To enhance the transportation business, WTS attracts, retains, connects, and progresses women’s careers. Our success is dependent on adhering to a set of basic values—our operational principles—in all we do. Together. The WTS Foundation provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students seeking professions in transportation.
